There are various ceremonies and activities to celebrate the National Day and every 5th and 10th year there are military parades of various sizes. China’s National Day is the celebration of the founding of People´s Republic of China and since 1950 the Chinese government announce each year that the 1st of October is the Chinese National Day. The Chinese National Day is also called the National Day Golden Week. It has become a rich, colourful and valuable cultural heritage. The Mid-Autumn festival‘s moon represents people’s family reunion, and expresses the feeling of missing loved ones and their hometown, praying for a bumper harvest and future happiness.
An important part of the festival celebration is moon worship when people eat moon cakes and drink Osmanthus wine. The Mid-Autumn festival began in the early years of the Tang dynasty, flourished in Song dynasty, through to Ming and Qing dynasties, and has also become one of the main Chinese festivals.
